I think we can all get complacent from time to time. I am totally guilty of this.
We get comfortable in our daily lives, our routines, and even our beliefs and perceptions.
This month I learned to be uncomfortable. I was out of my “happy zone.” And it was scary.
Originally, I had no desire to burst my lovely comfort bubble, but you can never really grow or feel challenged if you are in that place. You can never really feel like you have accomplished something extraordinary.
Being uncomfortable means taking a big deep breath and diving in without knowing the outcome. It means learning something new even if it means staying up until 2 o’clock in the morning to do it because you still can’t figure it out! It means getting so frustrated that you just want to throw something…ie: a computer.
As I dive into my journey as a podcaster, I’ve learned a few things, other than wanting to throw my computer….
- I do not like building websites from scratch or editing sound clips.
- I do not live in a vacuum and I cannot make things happen unless I am “all in.”
- It is a lot easier if I accept the challenges ahead instead of complaining about how hard it is going to be.
- I didn’t realize I had so much to say that is worth saying and how good that makes me feel.
As always, when I go within to ask Spirit for guidance amidst my frustration, the amazing message I get is:
“Growth is the catalyst for life and challenge is the fuel for growth.”
This experience, thus far, has humbled me for sure. I learned how to build a website from the bottom up, learned how to edit podcast tracks, use a recording mic, and figured out that I don’t have to have everything planned out to begin something. I have experienced every emotion: frustration, anger, sadness, happiness, inspiration, courage, and love.
I have no idea what the future will hold. (And I have no idea if I will ever figure out how to work website builders.) But come hell or high water, we will be launching our podcast The Butterfly Kinection in a few days. I am so excited to start this new chapter. I hope you feel guided to check it out!!!
And though there is SO MUCH TO DO, I feel alive. I feel as though every molecule of myself has awakened and is ready to spark like a fire cracker.
I know Spirit’s message is:
We really don’t know what the future holds no matter what it is we are doing. Yet,
we have fear and worry about what we have no control over. I think that is why so
many of us choose to stay in our comfort zones instead of taking a leap of faith. If
growth is a catalyst, we must find what makes us spark. And that means letting go of
our fears and insecurities so that we can have courage to challenge ourselves. It’s time
to grow again. It’s time to step outside of your comfort zone and do something new. It’s
time to be brave.
If we are brave, we can accept the challenge and allow our hearts to lead us and not our heads. We can all come alive.
We can all make a difference in this world if we think less and do more.
In life, there is always a choice. What will you choose?
Will you be comfortable, or brave?
Love this. Excited to see where this takes you and to listen to the Butterfly Kinection! Go Sara! Take your beautiful message to the world!
